West of Lincoln

Venice Project by Ruth Chase dot com

The purpose of these paintings is to create a compelling body of work reflecting the courage and wisdom of the people who grew up in Venice during the 80’s. Many lives were lost to violence and drugs while those still living have an insight that Venice will unlikely ever see again. Before this living history is lost, it is my goal to capture these individuals in art form.

Every one of these “Humanity Portraits” is done in collaboration with the subject’s life story with their input on how they would like to be portrayed, including the visual appearance of the portrait.
